If you are looking to go out clubbing or dancing, check out eventvibe.com, which is a great site for the clubs in San Diego. My favorite club is On Broadway, huge, great music and atmosphere. Dress to impress. Other good places are Aubergine, Onyx Room, Ole Madrid, and The Side Bar.
